Notes on the series
Above 1,400 metres the cloud sits on the ridges most mornings until ten. The tea is cut into the hills in contour lines, every row the width of a picker, and the fog removes them one by one from the top down.
I returned to the same four ridges over three wet seasons and stood in the same places each time, so that the series reads less like a set of views and more like a record of weather. Some plates were made forty minutes apart from the same tripod holes.
The pickers start at seven. Where they appear, they are as large as the land makes them, which is not very large.
